At Full Circle Professional Cleaning Services, we know that excellence in cleaning doesn't just come from working hard but also working smart.
In our new blog series, The Optimization of Commercial Cleaning, we’re sharing the systems and methods that keep our team efficient and consistent.
Our first focus: The 3 Towel Method — a practical system that simplifies cleaning, prevents cross-contamination, and ensures every surface shines.
What Is the 3 Towel Method?
The 3 Towel Method is a color-coded cleaning system built around three designated microfiber towels. Each towel has a clear and specific purpose to eliminate confusion and contamination:
Red Towel – Restrooms (Toilets & Urinals Only)
Used exclusively for restroom fixtures such as toilets and urinals. This towel is never used outside of restroom areas, ensuring bacteria stay contained.
Green Towel – General Surfaces
Used for desks, counters, sinks, and other common areas. This towel handles everyday cleaning while maintaining a sanitary barrier between spaces.
Blue Towel – Glass & Mirrors
Reserved for windows, mirrors, and reflective surfaces. This keeps the texture of the microfiber clean and smooth, delivering a streak-free finish every time.
Why It Works
This system isn’t just about color — it’s about control, consistency, and care.
Prevents Cross-Contamination: Each towel’s dedicated purpose prevents germs from restrooms spreading into office or food areas.
Enhances Efficiency: Staff know instantly which towel to use, speeding up tasks and reducing downtime.
Improves Quality: Glass towels stay pristine, ensuring a flawless polish on windows and mirrors.
Promotes Accountability: Supervisors can easily verify proper usage and uphold high standards.
Extends Towel Life: Organized towel rotation and care help reduce supply costs and waste.
Going Beyond: Optimization Enhancements
At Full Circle, we don’t stop at “good enough.” We continuously refine our processes to meet the demands of diverse facilities. Here are a few additional practices we pair with the 3 Towel Method:
Optional Food-Area Towels: For larger facilities or kitchen-heavy spaces, we incorporate a "secondary green" or designated towel for food-related areas such as large break rooms or cafeterias.
Dedicated Towels for Medical or Clinical Spaces: In healthcare environments, we introduce an additional color (often yellow or white) reserved solely for exam rooms, medical offices or patient-contact surfaces. This step aligns with infection-control standards and minimizes any risk of cross-contamination between general and clinical areas.
Towel Care Protocols: Proper laundering, drying, and storage are essential. Each towel is washed with detergent and disinfectant, at the right temperature and stored properly.
Ongoing Training: As a part of our Standard of Procedures, new team members are introduced to this system on day one, and we reinforce the process regularly to keep standards consistent across every site.
Implementation at Full Circle
Full Circle Professional Cleaning Services has adopted the 3 Towel Method as part of our standard operating procedures. It’s one of the cornerstones of our quality assurance program and a key reason clients trust us for dependable, health-conscious cleaning services.
What seems like a small system has a big impact — saving time, maintaining hygiene, and elevating results.
Final Thoughts
Optimization in commercial cleaning isn’t about doing more — it’s about doing better. The 3 Towel Method demonstrates how structure, consistency, and training create professional results that customers notice and appreciate.
